Modern history of agriculture and livestock industry, economic independence and social participation of agricultural women

From a historical perspective, we analyze the development and extension of agricultural production techniques and the structure of rural area.

Agriculture is a regionally based industry. Each region has different conditions that constrain it, such as climate, terrain, and soil properties. The rural landscape we see today is also the result of past changes and accumulations. This section reveals the evolution of the agriculture and livestock industry in Hiroshima Prefecture in terms of farming systems.

Agricultural women are engaged in diverse activities in their communities.
On the other hand, the status of women has improved from the past, but not enough. We will analyze agriculture and rural area from a gender perspective.

How have institutional and economic changes altered farming systems and how have they affected the organizations, lives, and communities of those involved in agriculture? These elements are examined as part of the farming systems.

So far, we have conducted collaborative projects in agriculture, forestry, and community development in less favoured area from the perspective of agricultural economy.
