On November 24, a campus tour was held for local residents to familiarize them with the Shobara Campus.
Participants toured the library and various facilities of the Field Science Education and Research Center.
At the artificial light-type plant factory, which will be newly constructed in 2021, participants observed hydroponic cultivation of lettuce using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and listened to an explanation of “aquaponics,” a recycling-oriented agriculture that combines hydroponics and fish farming.
This initiative was featured in the Chugoku Shimbun, a local newspaper, on November 30.
